Situated alongside the Costa Brava's Mediterranean coast, Palamos happens to be an eccentric coastal town of Spain. Known for and unimaginable natural beauty, the Palamos is situated in the exact location such that the town just stands right in front of the comarca of Baix Emporda, a land that falls in Girona province of Catalonia. Visiting this heaven can be a wonderful way to understand this sailor town and enjoy it the Catalan Mediterranean coast.
The best way is to start from Punta del Far which is considered to be the best sight in Costa Brava. You can cite the popular rocks named Sa Galera and La MÃ de Gegant here. The site of Palamos bay is also an incredible view from these points. Early morning on the Palamos port will give you an opportunity to watch the departure of big and small fishing boats, the scenery that is immensely spectacular and makes you crave for landing the history and significance of this coastal town.
Towards the center of town you'll find Catalonia Avenue, which is famous for weekly market that takes place there on each Tuesday. Stalling in the market, you will be able to avail the opportunity of buying typical products that belong to Catalonia. You can also view this opportunity to have a look at the real life of the merchants and artisans that live in this town.
Some interesting buildings and monuments are present in the center of Palamos. The Church of Santa Eugenia de Villaromà , the Church of Santa Maria and the Fisheries Museum are some important places. Also do not forget to visit the main street that has a number of nice restaurants and boutiques. Palamos's canon on is yet another patrimonial monument that should not be missed.
The sunset can be nice and warm and you can be a part of the famous fabulous fish auction which is the main event that takes place in Llotja. The auction starts then the boats arrive with freshly caught fishes from the sea.
Visit to La Fosca can turn your day into a nice trip. Beautiful cove features Roca de la Fosca which is in fact the most exemplary icons in the Costa Brava. After watching the cove, you may feel pleasure in going for a walk to Cami de ronda. Because of the historical connections, this path is quite famous in Costa Brava and offers a picturesque sight. St. Esteve is a medieval castle near La Fosca which creates a great panorama surrounding the sea and the mountains.
