It is that time of the year again folks! Ah, booking the ever elusive vacation. You remember what that is, right? Most of you have probably been putting off your summer vacation for the past 5 years. Perhaps you were too busy and had to work right through your holidays or maybe you just wanted to save your vacation time and keep working so you could bank a nice piece of cash.

Whatever the case may be folks, the point is that you have been missing out on a fun, relaxing and yes, perhaps even educational vacation and now is your chance to grab it! If you need a suggestion on where to go, there is always beautiful Madrid Spain!

Wondering what to do or what sites to see while you are in Spain? You can always stop by the Spain building or as the Spanish call it, Edificio Espana. It happens to be one of the perfect examples of modern day architecture!

You will see for yourself, once you are standing below looking up at its gorgeous lines; this beauty happens to be a whopping 25 stories high (117 meters)! That is not just your average sky scraper! It is said to be number 8 on the list of Spain's tallest buildings and that is saying a lot if you consider most of the buildings in Madrid alone; that is not even counting any of the other exquisitely built sky scrapers that Spain boasts of.

This gem of history was designed by Julian Otamendi and Joaquin Otamendi. The erection of this marvel was begun in 1947 and finished in 1953. The brothers employed Neobarroco as their number one choice for the design which turned out to be a winning choice as many will agree!

These brothers were not very famous until they put their heads together on the Espana which would later become one of their hallmark creations, it was said to be one of the tallest buildings in all of the European towns until the year 1957 when the Torre de Madrid was built and beat out the Espana.

Now it should be noted that Joaquin Otamendi was an engineer and Julian Otamendi was in fact the architect. We note this fact because there has been some misinterpretation of these facts. Now, back to the style of the Espana; the brothers did a magnificent job on the lines and the silhouette more than shows this.

Sadly, the day came in 2005 when the doors were closed and the Espana was closed. On April 28th of that year it was put up on the block for sale by a real estate agency by the name of Metrovacesa, the asking price is €389,000,000. It was put up for sale along with the Tower Madrid.
